Finalizing our Mission Statement
As we have agreed, we will use this blog to discuss, agree and finalize the mission statement of FPAE. From our meetings, the mission is tentatively stated as:
FPAE will help Filipino American associations collaborate and maximize resources to achieve goals which otherwise would not be achieved by a single organization on its own. FPAE will promote the achievement of the highest quality in teaching and professionalism among Filipino educators, preserve uniqueness, improve services to educators (otherwise not available to them), improve outreach to Filipino American educators and students in the United States.
Please comment and give your suggestions towards finalizing FPAE's mission statement.

Founding Member Organizations, Officers and Board Members
When we formed FPAE, we were advocating very strongly that Filipino teachers unite. When FPAE was formed a milestone and a symbol of our ability to unite and work together was achieved; but that was just a first step. There is a great potential for us to put all our efforts together and achieve strength to provide a LOUD and POWERFUL voice to pursue our causes for our teachers here in the United States as well as in the Philippines. If we want to make a difference and our voices be heard, we have to do a lot of work to make that happen. Working to make great things happen is very difficult to achieve by divided groups; it is very well served collectively, collaboratively and with teamwork. People and the powers that be will listen and support your cause if you are a bigger organization. FPAE is our chance to work collaboratively and become a formidable force in pushing forward towards the achievement of our common goals.
If all of you remember, it was from a meeting with DepEd Undersecretary of Education Vilma L. Labrador when she came to New York; which she mentioned in her article Transcending borders for educational and cultural care giving, that we organized the FPAE (tentatively named FEAA then then later changed to FPAE - Federation of Philippine American Educators).
In the same meeting, the following founding members were elected to take office until after the FPAE is incorporated and elects its permanent set of officers.

Executive Directors: Josefina Badana (AFTA), Pancho Bernaldez (AFTEA), Lumen Castaneda (PhilAm Needs), Victoria Rey Ed.D (ACES).
